Reception/Gallery talk - Wed. Oct. 21st

The drive behind this work is to create landscapes that feel remote and hard to find.
This taps into my impulse to explore, discover and to find the extraordinary in
surroundings that are often mundane. In images as in life, I am drawn to locations
that have the contradictory feeling of beauty, solitude and threat. This contradiction
invites imaginative speculation.
It is my hope that Far Reaches also challenges the viewer to distinguish the real
from the surreal. Between the real and the surreal exists ambiguity, this is the area
that fascinates me most.
